Durante os anos 50 e 60 os teenagers norte americanos criaram inúmeros grupos vocais com quatro ou cinco membros, principalmente masculinos, que desenvolveram um esquema harmónico que ficou conhecido por Doo Wop. Frequentemente aplicaram-no aos temas que ouviam em casa dos pais e o resultado foi este.
