O vibrafonista Terry Gibbs nasceu em New York em 1924. Começou a sua carreira nos anos 40 e continua vivo e activo. Primeiro tocou com Tommy Dorsey, Buddy Rich e Woody Herman na década de 40 e com Benny Goodman na de 50. Depois passou a liderar as suas formações e gravou mais de seis dezenas de álbuns.
