Blue Mitchell (1930-1979) foi um trompetista que nunca viu reconhecido o destaque que merecia. Começou na década de 50 com Cannonball Adderley e continuou com Horace Silver na de 60, época em que gravou vários álbuns como músico principal. O cancro levou-o prematuramente.
